First Step - Policy details 2025/26 Scheme: Effective from 31st March 2025 to 30th March 2026

Public Liability Insurance & Products Liability Insurance

Limit of Indemnity £10,000,000 any one incident/unlimited during the period of insurance in respect of Public Liability and any one incident/in the aggregate during the period of insurance in respect of Products Liability.

Please note there is a £250 third party property damage excess under this Section. Terrorism excluded. Asbestos excluded.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

Limit of Indemnity £5,000,000 any one incident and in the aggregate during the period of Insurance. Please note there is a £100 excess under this Section.

Personal Accident Insurance

Individual Dance Teachers will be covered for the following benefits. The operative time will be 24 hours.

Death

£20,000

Permanent Total Disablement*

£20,000

Loss of one or more limbs

£20,000

Loss of Sight in one or both eyes

£20,000

Loss of Hearing in both ears

£20,000

Loss of Hearing in one ear

£5,000

Temporary Total Disablement

£200 per week payable for 52 weeks, subject to a 7-day deferment

*Definition of Permanent Total Disablement is “permanent disabling injury which results in the individual person’s inability to perform or give attention to their usual occupation as a dance teacher.”

The scheme is for Dance Teachers teaching in their own individual capacity.

  • Hula Hooping
  • Music and Movement classes for pre-school children and parents
  • Zumba
  • Tango Social Dances
  • Break Dancing
  • Capoerra
  • Pilates (provided that Dance must comprise at least 50% of the overall classes)
  • Aqua aerobics (provided that Dance must comprise at least 80% of the overall classes)
  • Drama classes (provided that Dance must comprise at least 50% of the overall classes)
  • Barreconcept
  • Fit Steps
  • Yoga (provided that Yoga comprises a maximum of 50% of the overall classes)
  • Demonstration dancing
  • Productions pertaining to the classes
  • Rhythmic Gymnastics
  • Body balance (provided that Dance comprises at least 50% of the overall classes)
  • Silver aerobics (over 60s)
  • Feldenkrais (provided that Dance comprises at least 50% of the overall classes)
  • Use of Trampette & Wedge Blocks (used in respect of dance activities)
  • Gyrokinesis
  • Gyrotonics (provided that Dance must comprise at least 50% of the overall classes)
  • Qigong (provided that Dance must comprise at least 50% of the overall classes)
  • Cheerleading

If you are intending to carry out online classes, you must tell us in order that we can request an extension to your cover from Insurers.
